Centrifugal Air Blower Test Rig

The blowers are used to supply the air mainly in furnaces for burning the fuel. The blowers depending upon their impellers are of following types:
 Radial Curved Vanes
 Forward Curved Vanes
 Backward Curved Vanes

The unit consists of:
 Thyrister controlled variable speed DC motor of 1 HP at 2800 RPM is coupled to the impeller.
 Arrangement is provided to change the impeller to perform the experiment with all the three impellers i.e. radial, forward and backward.
 RPM Contact type Tachometer is provided on the control panel to measure the RPM.
 Voltmeter and Ammeter are provided on control panel.
 Outlet pipe of 50mm dia with 2 meter length is fitted. A butterfly valve is used to control the discharge.
 Pitot tube is used to measure the outlet velocity Of air. A U tube manometer is fitted across the limbs of Pitot tube. Another pitot tube used to measure the inlet velocity of air.

 This test rig is used to
 Efficiency of blower at different outlets.
 Efficiency of blower with different impellers i.e. radial impeller Backward curved impeller and forward curved impeller.
