The blowers are used to supply the air mainly in furnaces for burning the fuel. The blowers depending upon their impellers are of following types:
Radial Curved Vanes
Forward Curved Vanes
Backward Curved Vanes
The unit consists of:
Thyrister controlled variable speed DC motor of 1 HP at 2800 RPM is coupled to the impeller.
Arrangement is provided to change the impeller to perform the experiment with all the three
impellers i.e. radial, forward and backward.
RPM Contact type Tachometer is provided on the control panel to measure the RPM.
Voltmeter and Ammeter are provided on control panel.
Outlet pipe of 50mm dia with 2 meter length is fitted. A butterfly valve is used to control the
discharge.
Pitot tube is used to measure the outlet velocity Of air. A U tube manometer is fitted across the
limbs of Pitot tube. Another pitot tube used to measure the inlet velocity of air.
This test rig is used to
Efficiency of blower at different outlets.
Efficiency of blower with different impellers i.e. radial impeller Backward curved impeller and
forward curved impeller.
