Variable Speed Two Stage Air Compressor

The apparatus consists of a variable speed two stage Air Compressor which is driven by a thyristor controlled DC Motor. It sucks air from inlet air tank through an orifice and air filter. The air is compressed in two stages. The compressed air from stage one enters through inter-cooler to the stage second. The finally compressed air is stored in the air receiver. Delivery pressure gauges one after first stage and another after second stage is fitted. The temperature sensors are fitted to measure the temperature at different stages. Energy meter is fitted to measure input to motor. These measurement equipment are provided to perform following experiments:
 Volumetric efficiency of compressor
 Compression ratio
 Isothermal efficiency

- Cylinder bore : 50mm
- Stroke length : 100mm
- Max. Air pressure : 7 kg/cm2
- Air receiver of capacity : 300 pounds
With pressure relief valve and received drain cock.
 Motor: 2 HP DC Motor thyristor controlled to vary the speed.
 Measurements provided: Air inlet tank with air filter and orifice with U-tube water manometer for inlet air volume measurement orifice diameter = 12 mm.
 Multichannel digital temperature indicator for indicating temperature at various points.
 Energy meter for measurement of input to motor.
 Pressure gauge to measure intermediate and deliver pressure.
